Timeline And Summary: The Trial Of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard

As there marriage was only a few months, they been a relationship spanned more than a decade.

To catch you up the defamation case was brought up by Johnny Depp in case of his ex-wife Amber Heard, and will to be expected take weeks to end. What lead up to this? You may ask, will Both had a relationship that began more than a decade ago, then got in a toxic marriage.


In 2016 the couple had split, and continued to battel in the court she worte for the The Washington Post in 2018. Depp is sueing for 50 Million dollars for for deniesof beging physically violent against Amber Heard.


As the case unfolds social media had gone wild by wiping out every sound bites, evidence and clips of the courtroom. Depp had been testifying, but many big name people could be apart as a witness. Here we are showing a timeline how it all unfolded.


2009 - When They Met

In the filming of "The Rum Diary," a film based on the novel by Hunter S. Thompson, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard met, Depp played Paul Kemp, a journalist who moves to Puerto Rico and becomes obsessed with Chenault, played by Heard, who is engaged to a businessman.


2012 -The Start Of A Relationship

According to court documents from Heard, they had started to date after that year depp had left his 14 year old relationship with Vanessa Paradis. They had two kids.


2014 - The Engagenment

2 years after they started dating they had seen Heard is spotted wearing an engagement ring, later Depp appears to confirm the engagement later in interviews. It was fully confirmed in the daily mail.


2015 - The Private Ceremony, And The Illegally Importing

They get married in a private ceremony, but they come under fire for sneaking their dogs, Pistol and Boo, into Australia. They later made a apology. Amber was eventually charged with two counts of illegally importing Pistol and Boo into Australia and one count of producing a false document.


2016 - The Divorce, And The Claim

In May, Heard files for divorce and is granted a temporary restraining order against him. She also claimed that Depp had throw a phone at her. “During the entirety of our relationship, Johnny Depp has been verbally and physically abusive to me," Heard said in a sworn


She wrote she was living "in fear that Johnny will return to [our house] unannounced to terrorize me, physically and emotionally.”


A judge did not accpet Amber request that would put Depp to attend a year worth of anger management classes. No charges against Depp were made about attacking Amber and he also denied it. Later, in a joint statement, the couple announced they had settled their divorce.


2017 - The End Of Marriage

In 2017 The couple's divorce is finalized.


2018 - The Post

Amber wrote the op-ed for The Washington Post during the defamation lawsuit. In it she worte alot of personal things, anything that she wrote did not point finger at Depp.


2019 - The Lawsuit

Depp sues Amber for defamation, and the claims made in the post article. He also claims is not the victim of domestic violence, but instead the perpetrator. He seeks $50 million in damages.


2020 - Damges And Support

Audio published by The Daily Mail allegedly saying she hit Depp. A libel trial was held in the UK over the British newspaper "The Sun" that was calling Depp a "Wife-Beater. Depp sues both the editor Dan Wootton and the sun parent company.


Johnny's ex partner Paradis defend Depp by submitting a statement that said in quote "Is the farthest thing" from a violent person. Also he brrought forward claims that Amber had a affair with Elon Musk and actor james Franco. He also claims Heard put her own fecal matter in their bed and was physically violent toward him.


"Domestic abuse victims must never be silenced and we thank the judge for his careful consideration and thank Amber Heard for her courage in giving evidence to the court," the newspaper said in a statement.


2021

Amber countersues Depp for $100 million.


2022 - Long Lawsuit

On April 11, the weekslong defamation trial kicks off, with Heard and Depp appearing in court in Fairfax County, Virginia. On April 19, Depp takes the stand and testifies over the course of four days. Attorneys for Johnny Depp lay out evidence of Heard's alleged abuse.


Heard's lawyers focuses on Depp's past drug and alcohol use, text messages and recordings, claiming Depp perpetrated the violence.


“It’s hard to explain, but the argument would start here, but it would roll around and become this circular thing of its own,” Depp said. “You’d get back to the beginning. … Now it’s heightened even more, and it’s still circular. There’s no way in or out.”


At the end of the four day testimony, when asked about what he lost due to Amber's post, Depp replied with, "Nothing less then everything."


Heard reportedly had been frustrated by the negative coverage she'd received following Depp's testimony. Heard's new team is led by David Shane.


“I wanted to want to leave him. I wanted him to get better,” she said, her voice crackling with emotion. “And he expressed to me so many times when he was in that period of getting clean and sober, ‘You saved my life. Baby girl, you saved my life.’ Everyone else is saying that to me, and I believed it.’”


In May 2013 Amber was on vacation with Depp in the desert, he did a "cavity search" on her whlie he look for a drug. Amber describes other times of alleged abuse, and included the time Depp allegedly first hit her.
