Thomas Jefferson Middle School 6th Grade Orientation Comes Back After 2 Years

Van Buren, Roosevelt, Hoover, and Carreon elementary school took a trip into TJMS to learn about the clubs and take a tour around.

In March of 2020 all schools in dsusd and the US were closed when covid-19 hit, events and field trips were cancels and one event was the 6th Grade Orientation. After two years the school are back and touring the school and clubs.


Van Buren, Roosevelt, Hoover, and Carreon elementary school took a trip into TJMS to learn about the clubs and take tour around. Van Buren and Roosevelt came on Thursday April 7, 2021 and then Hoover And Carreon on Friday April 8 2021.


ASB student help to setup both days, they setup balloons, the MPR with chairs and the presentation. "They are better then the disney tour guide" principle Ms. McCormick said during the presentation. They tour all areas from the cafeteria to the classrooms.


Later in a email Van Buren teacher Sarah Pentony said "I think 6th grade orientation is a great opportunity for incoming students to see the campus, meet some of the students, and learn about the different classes that they will get to take. It helps them feel more welcomed and excited to be a part of Jaguar Nation. All the students are really looking forward to moving on to middle school after getting to see all the options for them, especially the slushies! "


There day started by arriving to the middle school and getting cheer by ASB students who set up the event. They enter the MPR to get introduces to Ms.McCormick and the school counselors, they were played a video made by the digital Production class run by Miss.Bossi. After watching they were split into group and were tour by ASB students. They were brought back to the MPR and the were "quiz" on what they learned and won some prizes.
