Suspect Arrested For The Sacramento Mass Shooting

Dandrae Martin, 26, was booked on assault and illegal firearm possession charges.

SACRAMENTO, CA — Blocks from California’s pristine state Capitol park, flowers, candles and stuffed animals, six people were killed early Sunday in a mass shooting that injured 12 others. Friends and family gathered to remember their loved ones, nearly after news that authorities announced an arrest in the deadly shooting.


Earlier Monday, Dandrae Martin, 26, was reserve on assault and illegal firearm possession charges, Sacramento police said. Authorities obey search warrants at three residences, which turned up at least one gun.


Investigators identified at least three buildings and three vehicles that had been struck by gunfire. The Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office will review all evidence to determine appropriate charges.


Martin was reserve into jail on two felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon and a felony count of being a convicted person carrying a loaded firearm. He also has an top roll warrant from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. Also he pleaded guilty in October 2014 to a misdemeanor charge related to a domestic violence case.


At least one city security video camera captured some of the violence. President Joe Biden called on Congress for further action to address gun violence.
