FBI And Police Ask For Photos And Videos Of Shooting

Authorities are asking for the public to send in photos or videos related to the shooting on Michigan State University’s campus.


The FBI and Michigan State University Department of Police and Public Safety are asking for anyone with footage to submit it via an online form.

 

The Rock At MSU Painted With The Phrase 'How Many More?'

The Rock, a fixture on the Michigan State University campus, was painted black in response to the mass shooting.


Written in red on the rock’s face was the phrase: “How many more?”


The Rock is considered an iconic monument on campus and is regularly painted over by students and student organizations to promote events or memorialize someone.

 

Students Who Died Were Shot At 2 Different Locations, Police Say

The three students who died in the MSU campus shooting Monday evening were shot at two different locations, police said.


“Two of the victims from Berkey Hall are deceased, one victim from the Union is deceased,” Chris Rozman, MSU's interim police deputy chief, said in a Tuesday morning briefing.


He could not confirm where the five injured victims being treated at E. W. Sparrow Hospital in Lansing were when they were shot.


“I believe most of them were from Berkey Hall,” he said.

The suspected shooter was dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after an hourslong manhunt, police said early Tuesday.


“This truly has been a nightmare that we are living tonight,” Rozman said early Tuesday. Officials reported that several campus buildings had been cleared and secured by 10:15 p.m.

At least five people were injured at Michigan State University after shootings at two locations on the East Lansing campus Monday night


Students were urged to "secure in place" as officials searched for a shooter


Five victims were transported to E.W. Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, and some of the injuries were life-threatening.


A single shooter is thought to be responsible for the violence and two campus locations. The male shooter, who police say is on foot, remained at large three hours after the gunfire was first reported at Berkey Hall.


Three students were seen hugging and emotional outside. “Everyone was screaming everyone’s names, it was really loud, really hectic, and I couldn’t find her,” one of them told the station.


Late Monday, MSU canceled all campus activities, including athletics and classes, for two days. Students and staff were urged to stay away from campus Tuesday.

Multiple people were reported injured at Michigan State University after shootings at two locations were reported on the East Lansing campus Monday night, university police said.


"Run, Hide, Fight," said an alert sent to students about 8:30 p.m. "Run means evacuate away from danger if you can do so safely, Hide means to secure-in-place, and Fight means protect yourself if no other option."


University police tweeted that shots had been fired near Berkey Hall and that anyone in the area should shelter in place. About 45 minutes later, officials said they were searching for a suspect they believed to be on foot.


Not long after, police said that were reports of a second shooting at IM East and that multiple people had been injured.


IM East is a fitness center and sports complex on campus, according to the MSU website. It’s about 1 mile southeast of Berkey Hall.


Students on campus reported on social media that they were hiding or barricaded as officers fanned out.

The FBI said late Monday it was sending agents to MSU.
